Court diagram: Finishing Through Contact: Two-Step Bump basketball drill

Instructions

  1. Groups of 3: driver on wing with ball, defender at the edge of the lane, rebounder under rim.
  2. Driver attacks with 2 hard dribbles to the paint.
  3. Defender slides into legal position and gives a light shoulder-to-shoulder bump, then contests vertically
  4. Driver finishes strong (layup or power finish)
  5. Rotate: driver becomes defender, defender becomes rebounder, rebounder becomes driver

Coaching Points

  • Driver: get shoulder into defender on your terms (stay under control)
  • Finish off two feet when possible to absorb contact
  • Eyes on the rim through contact; don’t drift away
  • Defender contests vertical with hands up
