4v4 Off-Ball Screen Starts: Neutral or Advantage
4v4 small-sided game that starts from either a neutral toss or an advantage trigger. Players initiate offense through off-ball screens, create advantages without static 1v1 play, and defend off-ball screening actions live.
Instructions
- Set up 4v4
- For a neutral start, the coach tosses the ball in to initiate play
- For an advantage start, the coach shows the ball and raises a hand. The offense runs to the ball, and the defender must touch the coach’s hand before engaging
- On static starts, the offense must begin with an off-ball screen.
- Play live 4v4 from the start condition.
- Award double points for advantages created from off-ball screens, including indirect outcomes such as scoring after a cut or drive-and-kick.
Coaching Points
- Do not stop the ball or play static 1v1 without an advantage.
- If no advantage exists, create one with an off-ball screen.
