1v1 Rebound Start
A 1v1 drill that starts with an offensive and defensive rebounding contest. After the rebound, the rebounder passes back to the coach or third player, gets open, and plays live 1v1
Instructions
- Start with one offensive rebounder and one defensive rebounder
- Place the defender in the assigned starting position, such as weak-side help or denial
- Outside player takes a shot. Both players compete for the rebound
- The rebounder passes the ball back to the outside player
- The rebounder gets free and receives the ball back
- Play live 1v1 and keep score
Coaching Points
- Defender makes contact with the offensive player before pursuing the ball
- Start in the correct defensive position
Variations
- Vary the starting positions on the court
- Count no defensive contact on the box-out as a turnover
- Limit dribbles for the live 1v1
Want this in your own library, with your coaching points on it? Building a drill library you'll actually reuse covers what to write down so a drill still works next season.
