1v1 Wing Pass Competition
Fast-paced competitive 1v1 drill that starts from a wing pass. Players rotate quickly through passer, offense, and defense roles while working on attacking the catch, defending the ball, and using matchup advantages when they appear
Instructions
- Place 1 passer on the wing
- Place 1 offensive player and 1 defender in the center
- Pass from the wing to start the 1v1
- Play live 1v1. No lob passes allowed
- Offense becomes defense. The defense outlets to the wing, then becomes the wing for the next rep
- The passer joins the center queue
Coaching Points
- Attack the catch immediately
- Use the first advantage instead of over-dribbling
- Defend the ball with active feet and chest in front
- Use a mismatch when it appears, but do not force it
Variations
- Emphasize mismatch reads by pairing different sizes or positions
- Limit the number of dribbles
- Start from different wing spots or angles
