Cone Knockout Shooting Race
Teams race to clear cones placed at different shooting spots. Each team must make a shot from a cone to clear it, then bring the cone to half court. First team to clear all cones wins.
Instructions
- Set 8 cones on each half court at varied shot locations, from layups to 3-point shots.
- Divide players into two teams, one team on each half court.
- On “go,” the first player from each team dribbles to any cone and shoots from that spot.
- If the shot is made, the shooter brings that cone back to half court and the next teammate goes.
- If the shot is missed, the cone stays in place and the next teammate goes.
- Continue until one team removes all cones. That team wins.
Coaching Points
- Sprint into each shot under control
- Rebound misses quickly and move the ball to the next shooter
- Let players organize their own passing, rebounding, and shot-order strategy
Variations
- Adjust cone locations and number of cones based on age and shooting range
- Require a set number of makes to clear a cone
- Require a set number of makes in a row to clear a cone
- Require every team member to score from a cone before that cone can be removed
